Hitch your Wagon to a Bike
Being an EcoDaddyo, and a cyclist, I bike around our fair city whenever possible. Given the short in-town distances we drive, biking is an easy alternative. Recently, we enrolled our eco-kid in daycare and I'm usually on pick up duty. I was happy to find that this is easy with our new dad-powered, bicycle-pulled kid trailer.
The bike route from our home to the day care center is a 6.4 mile round trip. Fortunately, the route home is mostly downhill via bike lanes and a multi-use trail. I've found that towing a 17 lb. trailer with a growing toddler is a great workout, especially on the uphill parts of the route. Best of all, our child enjoys the ride and the view from the trailer.
